Our Funders

Thank You From All of Us

We would not be able to achieve what we do without the support of our funders and partners. The Friends of Chances Park would like to say a sincere thank you to every organisation and individual who has helped us make a positive difference in our community.

Carlisle West Investment

The Carlisle West Community Panel is part of Cumberland Council and invests in community projects across the Morton, Castle, Belle Vue, Denton Holme and Yewdale wards. The panel puts residents at the heart of local decision making, supporting grassroots projects that make a real difference to people in the area. We are grateful for their support towards our labyrinth project.

Cumbria Community Foundation

Cumbria Community Foundation is an independent grant making charity that has been connecting people who care with causes that matter since 1999. Since their founding they have raised and distributed almost 70 million pounds to support more than 3,000 groups and 7,000 individuals across the county. Their support has been invaluable to the work we do at Chances Park.

Cumbria County Council

Cumbria County Council has been a long standing supporter of Chances Park, working alongside the Friends group and Morton Manor Community Centre to maintain and improve the park for the benefit of local people. Their investment in the park over the years has helped to make Chances Park the well loved green space it is today.

Cumbria Waste Management Environmental Trust

Cumbria Waste Management Environment Trust is a registered charity established in 1999 to distribute grant funding from the Landfill Communities Fund to community and environmental projects across parts of Cumbria. Grants are available to community groups and organisations within a 10 mile radius of the Hespin Wood and Flusco Pike landfill sites. Their funding has supported environmental improvements at Chances Park.

Groundwork UK (Post Code Lottery)

Groundwork UK is a federation of charities working to create a fair and green future for people, places and nature. In partnership with the People’s Postcode Lottery, Groundwork runs the Grassroots Grants programme, providing unrestricted funding to small community organisations across England. Their support helps groups like ours to get on with the work that matters most to our local community.

Hadfield Trust

The Hadfield Trust is a Cumbrian grant making charity that has been supporting good causes across the county since 1998, distributing over 4 million pounds to community organisations in that time. The Trust focuses on social needs, youth and employment, support for older people, the arts and the environment, with a particular commitment to projects that benefit as many Cumbrian residents as possible.

Lottery

The National Lottery has been one of our most significant funders, supporting the 1.18 million pound restoration of Chances Park in 2009 through the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund. That investment transformed the park and its historic features for generations to come. We are enormously grateful for their continued belief in community green spaces.

Riverside Foundation

The Riverside Foundation is the charitable arm of the Riverside Group, one of the UK’s leading housing associations. The Foundation supports projects that promote opportunity, wellbeing and community cohesion in the neighbourhoods where Riverside operates, including Carlisle. Their community fund has helped bring positive change to hundreds of projects and thousands of people across the country, including here in Morton.
