Events
Throughout the year the Friends of Chances Park organise a range of free community events for local people of all ages. From festive carol singing and our popular Easter Extravaganza to nature days, fairy trails and gentle wellbeing sessions, there is always something to look forward to. Our events are run entirely by volunteers and are open to everyone, so come along and join in the fun.
Our Christmas carol event is one of the highlights of the year at Chances Park. Held outdoors in the park, the event brings together local schools, community choirs and musical groups for a festive evening of singing and celebration. It is a wonderful occasion for families and neighbours to come together and enjoy the magic of Christmas in this beautiful setting. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.
Our Easter Extravaganza is a free family event that has quickly become a firm favourite in the local calendar. There is plenty to keep children busy, including an Easter trail where participants follow clues around the park, a decorated egg competition and lots more besides. The 2025 event was a huge success and we look forward to making it even bigger and better next time around.
We work closely with local schools throughout the year, involving children in the care and improvement of their park. Activities include planting spring bulbs, sowing wildflower seeds, growing saplings and plugging plants into the borders. These sessions give children a real sense of ownership over the park and help them connect with the natural world on their doorstep. Get in touch if you would like to arrange a visit.
Our Back to Nature days are a great way for families and young people to get hands on with the wildlife and natural habitats of Chances Park. Activities vary throughout the year and have included minibeast hunting, bird spotting, pond dipping and guided walks around the nature trail. These sessions are fun, informal and suitable for all ages. Keep an eye on our events page for upcoming dates.
Fairy Days are magical events designed for younger children, bringing a little wonder and imagination to Chances Park. Children are invited to explore the park and discover fairy doors, trails and surprises hidden amongst the trees and gardens. It is a lovely way to encourage little ones to get outside, use their imaginations and fall in love with their local park. Watch our events page for the next date.
Our Mind Body and Soul days offer a chance to slow down, breathe and take a moment for yourself in the peaceful surroundings of Chances Park. These free community events draw on the park’s natural calm and open space, with activities focused on wellbeing, mindfulness and gentle movement. They are open to everyone and no experience is needed. A perfect way to spend a few hours in good company.
