Set in the heart of Chances Park, Carlisle Parkrun is a free, friendly weekly 5km event that brings people together every Saturday morning. The event welcomes people of all ages and abilities and has become a much-loved part of the local community. Whether you choose to run, jog, walk, volunteer or simply come along to cheer others on, everyone is encouraged to take part in whatever way feels right for them.
Every week we welcome a mixture of runners, walkers, families, children and volunteers, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone who comes along. Some people who are ‘parkrun tourists’ travel from a far to tick our parkrun off their ‘list’. We’ve welcomed visitors from all over the world!
The 5km course takes place around Chances Park and can be completed at any pace. There is no time limit and no pressure, the most important thing is taking part and enjoying yourself. In the summer we use a three lap route and in winter we use a five lap route to avoid parts of the park that get muddy in the bad weather!
Joining Carlisle Parkrun is very easy and completely free. People simply need to register once online through the official Parkrun website, bring along their barcode, and they are ready to join in.

From 27th June, Carlisle Parkrun will also be launching 5k Your Way: Move Against Cancer — a support group with a difference. The group encourages people living with or beyond cancer, as well as family members, friends, healthcare professionals, and supporters, to come together and take part in the Parkrun at their own pace.
5k Your Way is all about moving in a way that feels right for each person, whether that means running, jogging, walking, volunteering, or simply coming along for support and friendship. The aim is to create a welcoming and supportive environment where people can connect with others who understand the challenges cancer can bring, while enjoying the benefits of being active and part of a community.
Throughout the year we also enjoy special events such as Christmas runs, fancy dress mornings, anniversary celebrations, and milestone achievements for runners and volunteers.
Carlisle Parkrun is much more than a run. It brings people together, helps people stay active, builds friendships, and creates a positive and supportive community where everyone feels welcome. We hope to welcome you along too!
